Plays In Ga Are Quite Fun

By Roseann Hudson

The Springer Opera House is one of the oldest buildings located in Columbus Georgia. A variety of plays in Ga are featured within this grand place. Students at Columbus State University are also happy to perform for many of the visitors who find themselves staying in this fair state.

A certain young man enjoys being a thespian and he would do anything to work on Broadway in New York City. He is gearing up for his role as "Hamlet" which will earn him great accolades. William Shakespeare is indeed his favorite writer since he has been reading his plays for a long time. Out of all the other writings "Hamlet" has always held his attention.

He had already performed in the production of "Romeo And Juliet" the previous year and found the role of Romeo to be quite unique. The student thinks that all of the other pupils should become involved within the theatre since it gives them the chance to do something that is totally intriguing. In order to prepare for the role of "Hamlet" he made sure to read the actual play before looking at the stage script.

He is training himself to be a unique and serious thespian who will obtain the best roles that are available. The young adult will also get the chance to fascinate people on the stage at the River Center. The River Center is a safe haven for all of the music and drama majors. They are all involved within the show business world. Many older people are still quite satisfied with the Springer Opera House and they will not go anywhere else.

The role of Juliet was portrayed by a talented young lady who looks forward to her years as an actress. She is currently working on her character of Lady Macbeth. This is one character that she truly admires and wishes that she had not come to a tragic end. Every human being has always been fascinated by this crazy character who influenced her devoted husband. She also knows that during these productions there are always writers and film critics sitting within the audience.

Sometimes these students will go on to major theatre and film jobs once they have graduated from college. The Springer Opera House has also put on many of these performances but their actors were always slightly older and were just performing for sheer fun. One lady who is well over sixty has done many productions for the Springer and she is proud of her work.

She has done "My Fair Lady" on many occasions and really enjoys playing the ditzy lead character. She is a huge fan of Audrey Hepburn and believes that this particular actress played the part well. The older woman can really relate to Eliza Doolittle since she herself grew up poor and married a wealthy man. This play shows that dreams really can come true.

The bolder actors living within this town will try their best to take on roles that are really controversial. One drama professor at Columbus State University would like to direct the production of "Oedipus."
